Default Hoping somebody knows this... 04 G35 6 spd tranny fluid

I know this is kinda random for LS1tech, but I am doing the 30k mile inspection on my dads car and he needs tranny fluid.

04 G35 6 spd.

This is what it says in the owners manual "Genuine Nissan tranny fluid HQ multi 75w85 OR API Gl-4 Viscosity 75w-85 or 75w90"

Is it ok to run a Mobil 1 Synthetic 75w-90 gear oil. It says on the back "Meet and exceeds API GL-5."

Is this what the tranny calls for? Owners manual says nothing about Syncromesh or ATF.... hmmmmm

Hopefully someone can help
Thanks

You may have a little more rattle/ gear noise with a GL5 over the GL4 they ask for. ATF or synchro mesh are NOT going to work well in that trans.

slow down chief!

ATF is not 75w90.. not even close. you need gear oil. if they're specific to GL4, that's what i'd stick with. the GL5 may have adverse effects over the long term.

the lubricant in a tranny walks a fine like between lubricating, but also maintaining neccessary friction.
