That would affect one gear though? So on top of changing the fluid, I've read on CF that some guys wrap their lines to prevent this heat.. I may look into doing this as well. I don't think the lines are anywhere near my headers but I might as well wrap em as an extra precaution.

It doesn't affect one gear but the use of the clutch. If the fluid is bad it loses its ability to work your clutch correctly. I just finished doing this to my car and the little bit I drove it it seems to have worked.

I'll give that a try and I'm going to take my shifter out tomorrow and reinstall it. If that doesn't help the problem it's kinda seeming to me like it'd be a fork? or synchro maybe? Does this sound more like a tranny problem rather than a clutch problem, or is it too early to determine?

Have you had a few high rpm missed shifts going into third? Does it go into third at all or just grind a little when you shift? Did it start all at once or, did it get worse over time?
Missed shifts will wear the synchro side of the gear. You also may have bent the fork slightly. When I've seen synchros go they usually get worse as they wear. The fork would be more of instant type of thing.
Don't know if you've seen Ranger's sight about clutch fluid care but it's got some great info...

I had a high rpm miss shift into third, but not a serious grind i just let off of it when i missed it and let the bike fly by. the next day it would gring while going into the gear, then the next day which is today it doesnt go in at all and if it does go in it wants to spit it out until it pops in.

Do you have a steel fork in it?

I had a couple missed 2-3 shifts when I first got the car, with the stock shifter; none recently. It does go into third if I jam it in, but it grinds its way in. I just noticed this today, it was fine yesterday when I took it out.
I was leaning towards it being a synchro, but due to the fact that it happened so abruptly I thought it may be a fork. I've read Ranger's info a few times over on CF, I'm gonna take the clutch care to heart from here on out.
Who knows.. maybe here in a few days I'll be giving you guys at six speed inc a call ....

Changed my clutch fluid, it was almost solid black! Anyways, the clutch feels a lot better now, third gear is still a no-go. Synchros it is... how much is this gonna cost me if I take it to a dealer?

Call Amber. Six Speeds has free shipping right now. If you take it to a dealer, you're going to get paper backer rings. Now would be a good time to upgrade them to carbon.

I'll give amber a call tomorrow. What all am I gonna need to replace and ne ballpark figure on cost. Secondly, would it be worth it to beef up anything while I'm at it? ..or take it to a performance shop?

If I remember correctly, you have a pretty low mileage trans. The more you grind it though, the more damge you will do. As far as beefing it up... Yes, I would. As long as you're in there, might as well. If you are in CA, Amber might know someone out there that can help you out. Otherwise, pull it and ship it to Texas. The stage one package, that comes with manny upgrades is $950. Not too bad considering... Give her a call, she will help you out whether you use them or not.
