Whats the difference between early and newer T56 ?

Default Whats the difference between early and newer T56 ?

I got a T56 from a 93 LT1 powered trans am and i was wondering what the difference was to a 98 and up T56 .I have a LQ4 i was installing and wanted to run a manual trans can anyone tell me whats different. Are the input and output shafts different? and what flywheel would i have to use .Thanks For any info .

Yes the input shaft is different and I think the LT T56s had different ratios

LT1 had a pull-style clutch and the LS1 had a push-style clutch

If you're putting it behind an LQ4, you need an LS1 version of the t56 (98-02). You'll be able to use a LS1 flywheel and clutch set. Like said above, the 93-97 t56's use a pull-style clutch. The input shaft, front plate and bellhousing are different as well.
