REAL feedback needed - T-56, Twin disc clutch, peddle effort
Hi guys....im converting from a Th400 in my car to a stick for driveability....am no longer interested in racing, car has been 8.78 @ 164+ with the auto
What it looks like i'll need is a twin disc setup......seems to be a few company's to choose from BUT i want to make the right choice the 1st time.
Im using a T-56 transmission, Ls1 style & would like to keep it Hydraulic
-What clutch will last with 750 RWHP and will be nice to drive as well?
-What will have a good pedal feel
-What will have enough slip to make taking off nice without bucking back & forth
-etc...
Im looking for good street manners, durability & enough clamping force to blast off some passes at the strip once & a while.
All this is mated to a 400" Dart based SBC w/ hydraulic roller & twin 70mm turbos
All opinions welcome, yes i know i have to upgrade the T-56 and yes im nuts.

Not nuts IMO. For what you want to do, IE no more racing and wanting driveability, I think you're headed in the right direction.
Unfortunately I don't have anything to offer as far as clutch selection goes. Good luck!

Textralia Exo-Skel is a great clutch. I daily drive mine and have had it since before the cam and heads went on. Take off needs to be around 1,500 rpm to keep squeal and chatter at bay. If you are willing to learn how to drive with it you will love it!

No, I don't have anywhere near that power. I think the Exo-Skel has seen duty on some 700+ hp cars down under. They also make a triple disc. Go to Textralia's web site and send them an e-mail detailing your car and your intended purpose (street only, street/strip, race car only) and see what they recommend.

I use the SPEC twin in setups like yours. Stock peddle pressure, very good drivability and hold s the power no problem. I've attached a dyno sheet of one car that weighs in at 3900lbs ussing this clutch.Been in the car for over 2 years with alot of abuse.Car actually makes 860rwhp for about 1 year now.

clutch looks good but everyone seems to be bashing these Spec clutches around here???
Do you beat on it much? I want something that will last a few times at the track as well as survive street beatings. Planning to see how much ET i drop with the stick conversion so it will see track abuse

I went through this same decision about 2 months ago since my engine will be putting down around 800rwhp on the bottle. I read every post and article on the subject that I could find. I finally choose the Textrilla Exo-skel since they seem to give the least trouble, hold the most hp, and have excellent customer service.
Apparently they are back ordered a month right now. However this was 3 weeks ago so they should be hitting the shelves soon.
