I'm fairly new to engine and tranny swaps. I've searched everywhere on google and other forums and haven't found any info on what I need. I have a 2000 silverado 4x4 with a 4.8 and a nv3500. I'm looking into a 5.3 or a 6.0 swap but I can't seem to find any transmissions for the swap except for the nv4500. I've been reading about it and I hear it is made for heavy duty applications and isn't very a smooth shifting transmission. I'm not looking for extreme off roading, just primarily road driving. Do I have any other transmission options that will bolt in to my setup with minor modifications? I have 285 tires with 4.10 gears. Any help is appreciated. Thanks...

The transmission you have will bolt up to the 4.8 . Infact you should not have to change anything to swap in a 5.3 or 6.0 in it .
