Default Slave cylinder shim question.

I just started my M6 swap and went to put the shim behind the slave that came with my clutch kit and there was like a plate behind it. My question is that thing factory or is that a shim? It looks a little differant than the shim that came with my kit and little thicker too. Should I just take out the one that was behind the slave and replace it with the new one or use both?

Sounds like you already had a shim in there. I'd put the one for your kit in and wouldn't use both at once.

On install univeristy i believe it says to take out the stock shim, add the shim which will work with your car then put the stock shim back on over the kit shim.

Joel has a point. I was thinking of this kind of shim like on my Spec 3. You don't want two of these on there.

It depends on the vehicle. I'm not running the spacer in mine and it's been fine.

The spacer Spec gives you is supposed to get rid of "crash pedal syndrome"

my Ram HDX came with instructions on measuring the distance between the trans and something else (it was a while back). Anyways I measured it was close, but it indicated that I did not need the shim, so I did not install it. It should not cause crash pedal syndrome if you have that, either bleed you clutch system or replace your clutch master cylinder. I had this on my car but it was due to bad seals in my master cylinder, changed it, problem solved.

Don't forget the drill mod if you haven't done it already.

I have the same kinda shim that came with my Spec 3+ that im in the process of installing. Does it just go behind the slave with the square cutouts where the bolt holes are? Mine has the two squares and 4 holes drilled in it. The holes arent' far enough apart for the bolts to line up so I'm assuming the bolts go through the square part?
