Default 6 spd Rebuild

So ,I have taken the plunge & going to rebuild the tranny . i have searched , found & read the post & write up I could find. Most of these do not cover the bearing replacement or setting for pre load .
Anyone know if someone has done a rebuild themself ..replaced the bearings ..and had to set for pre load? Is there a write up I have missed?

there really isnt much floating around for these trannies. im in the same position as you, trying my hand at rebuilding one of these for the first time. the best help I can offer you in the form of information is a link for the T-56 factory service manual download. good luck! and if you find any videos, posts, write-ups, etc. showing how to perform a rebuild DEFINITELY pm it to me!

thanks!

download link for manual in PDF format:

Per the factory service manual, the bearings/races should not be removed/replaced unless there is visible damage. If they are not replaced, there is no need to set shaft end play. If you have a damaged bearing that warrants replacement, the link above that nine-eight posted includes steps on shimming to set the correct main and countershaft end play.

I would not suggest changing them unless one of them has failed .

Well the tranny ...All shift pads were broken ..And the teeth on 2nd gear for the synchro are gone.. It has shift pad parts in the bearings, behind the races..
