Default hurst billet guys come inside!

I read something on the instructions about a spring you can remove to make the shifter "softer". What exactly do they mean by this? Right now I have a LSS and if that means it'll be easier to shift, then would it be worth it?

The spring helps with the side to side preload. More preload is going to make the 2-3 shift easier. I also like the way the shifter feels, since there isn't any slop. But no, the spring won't do anything for how notchy it feels, just in how easy it is to move the stick side to side.

I have hurst billet with a UMI stick, and absolutely love it. I wouldn't take out the spring though because it makes the 2-3 retarded easy.

Mine had 2 springs in it, using 1 makes it feel like stock, using 2 makes 2-3 easy but makes going into 1st a pain due to the extra force needed.

I really have no problems getting into any gear at all with two springs. First or reverse aren't a chore for me.

I actually liked the "stock" tension hence why I went with that spring. I've never had a issue with 2-3 anyways so why would I want some assist for something that isn't a problem. I guess it has to do with I am pretty forceful shifting anyways, I put out a lot of strength vs the effort applied. F-bodies have never been gentle cars to begin with.

When adding a Short stick to the Hurst billet the throws will require more effort due to the shorter stick not giving enough leverage compared to the long stick. Removing 2 of the 4 springs will help ease some of the tension making shifting easier.

between using the ws6store 6.5 inch stick and the C6 corvette ****, I have a lot of leverage to work with for my shifts.

Results vary based on the **** and the person shifting, while it is at the perfect height for my arm position and hand, it will not be for someone else.
