Default cts-v t56

I can get a cts-v t56 trans could I use this or what mods would be needed to use in a f body ,I hear they are a lot stronger than stock f body t56's?

They are M12 trans, same internals as the C5 Z06.

They use a remote shifter, that's linked to the center of the trans (by the skip shift solenoid), not the tailshaft. They also use a 3bolt flange and damper to hook to the driveshaft, not a splined yoke.

I have one apart in my basement if you want/need any pics/measurements.

Thanks mike I guess to use this in a f body I would need the tail section off a f body or gto t56?

I don't think a mainshaft would be necessary; the splinage is different, but I presume you won't be digging into the internals. The shifter linkage out of an f-body would work, though you would need a tail section though. They are mildly superior, if it incurred much cost it would be better to have an f-bod t56 rebuilt. The superiority greatly depends on the year, what is it?

Incorrect. the mainshaft is shorter, and drilled and tapped for
screwing the output flange on.

I'd be glad to post picks if anyone wants to see the CTS-V internals laid out next to the LS1s..

It would also be advisable to convert a CTS-V unit with care as the linkage throws and guideplate are different.
