Will a stock t56 with steel shift forks break on the streets? What will the t56 hold? What can I do to make the tranny hold and how much is it? No going to the track on slicks and skinnies.

t56's seem to do decent to around 500 hp. Rear ends tend to break before tranny usually. After you get a 9 inch, and a driveshaft then the t56 will break.

a t56 built to hold 800+ hp probably gonna run you 3,000-5,000 depending on builder.

Never had a problem with my stock T56 until I went to drag strip with the supercharger then I broke the main shaft, now I have a G-force T56.

You should be alright if u dont go to the dragstrip and have good driving habits.

I vote for Fidanza twin disck or the spec td.

Textrailia Triple Hands down! I have one is both of the cars street driving is the best I have had and still allows me to power shift if when I want etc... Spec dual held good, but wasn't the best driving clutch I have had very off and on I am sure the different matrial they offer will make a difference though. Good luck!

i have a mcleod rxt (good for 1000 hp) and its not a bad clutch but makes speed shifting a bit of a chore. the engagement window is very large.

Only one choice and that is a dual disk setup. There are quite a few reputable companies producing nice dual disk clutches for our rides. Spec, Mcleod,Ram,Zoom, and RPS to name a few. I personally went with a RPS carbon carbon dual disk clutch and all the surfaces are pure carbon and the whole idea behind that is carbon LOVES heat. The hotter the clutch gets the harder it bites. What more could you ask for. The driveablility is excellent drives just like a stock clutch just slightly heavier pedal feel. It will hold 1000 rwhp and 1000 rw TQ. The clutch does cost a pretty penny, try 2K, but a rebuild is only 400 dollars indefinitly and it comes with a bitchen flywheel. RPS is local to me here in Ca. All the above dual disk clutches work great and will hold your power level just fine with any rear tire setup you decide to run.

My D and D rebuilt T56 grenaded before my 10 bolt rear on street tires with 700 rwhp and no hard launching just rolling into boost. My turbo kit hits like nitrous @ 3200K

I hear that too much, but you will NEVER see me in an automatic. I prefer road racing and driving nice twisty country roads with 800 rwhp and a 6 speed with my RPS dual carbon carbon clutch hearing the BOV every shift with the T tops off.

that just sounded like a line out of fast and the furious lol j/k...but yea what good is a 800rwhp car with a 800rwhp clutch if that tranny itself is going to implode upon any signs of traction ...
