Default Bleeding question

When bleeding the hydros, does the car's ignition have to be on or can it be completely off? My guess is the car can be completely off, but I'm having a hell of a time getting fluid to come out and I'm using the remote bleeder.

Since I have a brand new slave, will it just take and insanely long amount of time before I start getting fluid to come out?

I read you need to "bench bleed" a new slave before you install it

i've read that you need to bench bleed the master, but have never read anything about having to bench bleed the slave.

Do not bench bleed the slave. You can over extend it since it has nothing to resist it. Did you install a new master? New GM masters come pre-bled. If you emptied your master somehow, you should remove it and bench bleed it.

It can take a while to get a new slave bled. How does the pedal feel when you bleed, any pressure? You should get fluid out pretty quickly though...

I figured out the problem and you'll never believe this. When I cracked open the valve on the remote bleeder, air was being let back in through the threads. And no, I didn't crack it open that much, just 1/4 of a turn. So, I took the valve off, wrapped that white thread tape stuff around it and screwed it back in. Started bleeding almost instantly. Now ain't that some ****??

Always something! For your remote bleeder, do you just hang a cup under the bleeder valve while another guy pumps the pedal? Or do you submerse it in the clutch master reservoir directly?
