Default 1st - 2nd Grinding :(

Hey guys

My car is a 98 Trans Am ws6 and is having issues with the 1st to 2nd shift at WOT. Basically, it'll either grind a little bit and go in, or it won't go in at all. During this time, I have the clutch pedal is all the way to the floor. When I'm driving it normally (shifting under 4k) there is no grinding to be found.

If I give it more time before I shift (let the RMPs fall a little bit, 2 seconds) it'll usually go in without a problem.

Does anyone have an idea what the problem could be? I've tried changing the transmission fluid to syncromesh, bleeding the hydraulics with new Dot 4 fluid, and put on a Pro 5.0 shifter to replace the stock one.

The clutch seems to be holding fine. I've tried revving it up high at a stop (with it in first) and it doesn't move at all.

The original owner replaced the clutch with a Centerforce II clutch so I'm not sure if that has anything to do with this.

Any suggestions are appreciated. Thanks

Same problem with me...I put Lucas Transmission Slip. Give it 2-3 weeks to really settle in and you'll be good to go.

Where does the clutch engage in the pedal throw?

It engages/disengages when it is almost all the way to the floor. I would say the last 2 inches of pedal play is where everything happens.

might need to get it to about 1/2 way or so, that may be your issue...
