Default LT1 T56 behind an LS1

What is the BRICK WALL that keeps you from putting an LT1 unit behind an LS1??

Seems to me with some thought out parts interchange in the bell/cover/input area it could work...but maybe Im missing something, or is it simply not worth it and better off to sell the LT1 unit for an LS1 unit? Thanks for the insight.

Just need the LS1 mid-plate and input shaft. D&D has them listed for $299 (BC19) and $179 (BG27) respectively..

Of course the trans must be completely disassembled to swap these, so you'll need to DIY or pay a shop, which is where most people throw in the towel..

You can change those front two parts without complete disassembly, but you need to verify bearing endplay. Shims for the counter & input shaft bearings are replaced under the races that set in the case mid-plate.
