Question ? about flwheel material

ok, i know a guy who can can make me a Ti flywheel, would there be any advantages for this? Is this even worth trying? Are the properties of Ti good for this kind of application?

Interesting it would be a light weight FW.
But the aluminum ones use a steel friction surface. I dont know how titanium would hold up.

is it free ? have not read of tit. flywheel in our rides . also the tit. would have to bond for the surface as said . sounds expensive to me .

Bad idea for two reasons. First, Ti has terrible wear properties and wouldn't work without some kind of surface treatment. Most likely that would be a steel face plate as most clutches are designed to wear against steel. Anything else and you'd have to develop a new mating wear material (expensive). Second, Al is cheaper and lighter than Ti. They already make those and they work well.
