Short Shifter Question
Hey guys I've been looking at short shifters for my '98 m6 Trans Am. Can I just buy the short stick, or do I need the whole shifter? I thought the stick was what made it shift short, but someone told me no. Also, any opinions on what's best or worst out of Hurst/B&M/Pro5.0/Fidanza (I've never heard of Fidanza)?

the stick isn't what makes it a short shifter lol. it's the shifter. there is a much "shorter" shift range with a short shifter. i have a hurst and ended up cutting my stick down by a couple inches.

A short shifter is typically the stick, since it's physically shorter.
The base is typically refered to by brand name and type, each having their own different geometry to make the throw shorter.
Both will make the throw shorter to some degree, even if only one is aftermarket.
