No. Replacing forks requires pulling the trans apart.

5th gear and 5th gear only went out. i brought it to Cottman transmission since i still have a warranty. they put in steel fork upgrade 2years ago. today said the 5&6 gear shift forks are aluminum with no steel upgrade? won't know untill they pull it apart. free labor, just have to pay for parts and prying it's nothing to expensive

In a stock T56 the 1/2 and 3/4 forks are aluminum, and you replace the 3/4 fork with steel. The 5/6 and reverse are steel from the factory. Hopefully it's just something small for you. 5/6 and reverse are in the extension housing so you don't have to pull the main case apart to get at them, so it's fairly easy to take apart to repair a 5/6 problem.

5th gear and 5th only. on the test drive it went in fine at slow speeds. highway run, it went in fine. on deceleration from about 70mph 5th didn't work. 1,2,3,4,6& reverse work fine
