tranny froze please help
put my 408 in yesterday and drove it today. I was doing 65 in 6thand th car all of a sudden felt like it had a ton of pressure on it so i go to shift to fourth and it wont go. I pull over to the highway and try letting out the clutch in any gear including nuetral and it just drains power until it dies. like starting it out in 6th gear or something. The tranny was rebuilt by six speed inc and i have a textrailia clutch in it thanks Brandon

Fluid leak?
If you ran it long enough dry or low enough to seize up the gears, it's time for a major rebuild. Again.
The input shaft is always spinning, even in neutral. If the transmission is seizing, then the input shaft regardless of being in neutral or in gear will provide resistance against the engine. Do not try running the car anymore. Drain the fluid and add up how much you got out of it. Should be around 3 and 3/4 quarts drained give or take. The fluid should NOT be black or burnt smelling. Even after 100k my transmission fluid came out red, red with lots of metal shavings, but still for the most part red. In neutral you should be able to spin the driveshaft by hand without too much effort (rear jacked up of couse).
Try to determine if it had a leak coming from the rear transmission seal, that is usually the culprit for most leaks.

just about everything... since the gears are always meshing they will be toast from the lack of fluid. You can keep the case and maybe the shafts, but everything else needed fluid to survive.

That thing sounds like its toast. If you need a new trans let me know, I just had one of mine rebuilt and strengthened by one of our sponsors and can get it to you for a decent price with a warranty and zero core charge!!! let me know if your intrested as I have zero use for two T56's lol! My buddy blew the motor on his T/a so I put his t56 in my car as I could no longer wait for the new trans to come in so here I am with two now!

The first thing to go with a low-oil operation is the pocket bearing. Thats the bearing between the input and output shafts. When this goes there is alot of heat damage and the trans has full time 4th gear. When you select any other gear the engine will stall because you can't have 2 gears at once and have out put( its locked up ). You may be able to rebuild but there will be a fairly big replacement requirement. Most likely the input & out put shafts and maybe 3rd gear & bearing & all 3/4 synchro parts. You still may be below a replacement cost.

I'd try to find a good used one . If you toasted the input shaft and cluster gear , those two parts alone are $$$ . Tremec just took a price increase on stuff effective today as well . GOOD F'n luck .......

Everything other than the input shaft bearing spins freely and just needs to be cleaned

The input shaft and cluster look like they were damaged from the lack of oil . More than likely it will howl after reusing them but its a chance you have to take unless you want to buy another input shaft and cluster gear .
The inside of the unit looks really dry . Did you put oil in it when you installed it in the car ? I would think the unit would have failed before 6k with no oil but one never knows . I do know that you would have had a serious oil leak to leak 4 qrts of fluid in 6K miles though ......

no I didnt fill the tranny fluid and I only put about 20 miles on it when it happened and about 14 of those were doing 60. I know someone with a input shaft should i take up his offer on it?

The input shaft alone will not fix anything . The cluster has damage as well and will still make noise . Look at the teeth on the front gear of the cluster . Its the gear tha rides against the input shaft . Those teeth have a bad wear pattern from lack of oil and will make noise even with a new input shaft . It might hold up but given your car has a stroked LSX based engine , I personally would try to find a good used one to install in it .
