Default strange noise

whenever i take off in first gear slowly (letting out the clutch slower than normal, maybe because of a speed bump or something) i hear this low-pitch squeal coming from the shifter area (which probably means the noise is in the transmission). it just started. it only last for a second until the clutch is fully released. i don't know how to describe the noise, but i was wondering if anyone can make any guesses as to what it is based on this information?

A squealing sound would make look towards the throw-out bearing. Although you hear it at the shifter, it is not likely it is comming from the trans. You may also have a hole in the shift boot that is allowing the noise in. You may not notice the noise if the boot were sound.

well i have had that clutch for nearly 4 years and the noise was never present until recently. it seems to only do it when i slowly release the clutch (going over speed bump, traffic, etc).
