Default What the hell is the hang up?

Trying to replace the clutch in my 95 Z.........
So all of the right bolts are off, tranny slides easy for a bit, then catch's.
It's like the input shaft is hanging up on something, but what could it be?
Tried the wiggle, side to side shake, even said a prayer.
Nothing.
Any ideas?

Did you center the pressure plate with an alignment tool? Otherwise just make sure its lined up with the splines just right and that the tranny is going in straight?

I wish I was that far along.
I can't get the tranny out......
It slides so far and then just get's stuck.
The input shaft seem's to be hung up or catching on something.

May be a silly question, but you did remove the shifter right? and there is no cables still plugged into the trans?

what he said!

also make sure, your Driveshaft is removed, Cags connecter, VSS, Reverse light connector, and your Reverse lockout solenoid,

then run your hand along the top of the length of the transmission and see if the top of it is hanging up on firewall or floor pans.. are you lifting up on the tail shaft when trying to move? you may be pushing the shifter tower ( where you shifter bolts into ) up into the hole making it hang up..

other then that, i don't know.. there is virtually nothing to hang up on, inside the FW, PP and clutch unless you bend the input shaft.. which i doubt, but i have seen happen. you could also be trying to pull it out at a weird angle.. remember, it is bolted up straight to the motor.. pull it out straight..

let us know how it goes!

Oh, I didn't know it was being removed. Could the pilot bearing be coming out with the input shaft and be hanging up on the pressure plate?

Your clutch fork is hung up on the throwout bearing.

On LT1 cars, you have to slide the fork out of its detent so it disengages from the throwout bearing on the clutch. Just reach into the slave cylinder hole in the bellhousing and slide the fork away from the input shaft. (remember to slide it back into place on its detent when you reinstall the trans)

Didn't think of that.
We will give that a look over, thanks much.
