Talking C5 z06

I know this is weird and my be wrong to ask. But does any have a C5 Z06 that is bone stock or lightly modded (bolt ons) that I could drive and see if I like it because I'm looking to buy one. I can't find one at a stealership to test drive and I don't wanna bs somebody that's selling one and waste there time and plus there aren any close enough for sale that I could look at anyway in my price range.

Not to be an ***, but why don't you just drive the one you look at buying?

Finding a 6spd c5 at a close dealer should be easy enough. It shouldnt matter if it is a z06 or not because with a salesman or a fellow member your not going to be really getting on it or throwing it into corners.

How much difference is there between a base and Z06 as far ride comfort and performance

Well the z06 will clearly outperform a base c5 because:

higher hp ls6 engine(00-01 385hp/ 02-04 405hp)
steeper gears in the z06 trans
different spring rates and thicker sway bar

but on a test drive these things will be hard to notice. There are more differences and benefits that come with the z06 over the base that totally make it worth it. But deciding whether you will like a z06 or not should be doable by driving a base model.

I agree, drive a base 6 speed. If you like that, you'll love a Z06.

Don't drive one unless you're ready to buy. A C5 will ruin your outlook on anything else in the price range. Also remember that the last C5 Z06 was produced 7 years ago and not all of them were treated well so not just any car will be representative of the car you want to buy. Flew 800 miles to buy a car that I had never driven, and had not driven any C5 in over two years. You have to be ready to walk away if it's not the right car (in my case , fly away). However all worked out good and I drove her home.
