You're very welcome Charlie. You guys always bring in very nice cars and are great to work with.

Did you bring your car into get judged Benji? If so I'm sure I judged it! Sorry I didn't realize it was you.

Thanks for your kind words. I ordered the IROC-Z from KARL Chevrolet in Feb. of 1988 and now 20 years later it's still a lot of fun to own. Since I can't drive anymore it is now a garage Queen as is the HOT ROD. Oh well, I am playing the hand I was dealt.

What's up all? Got a few quick questions for anyone who can help. Lately my clutch and transmission both have been giving me fits. Lately I have noticed that if I don't really concentrate on shifting to third the damn thing will grind and pop back out. Well the other night I raced a BMW M6, yes it was a badass looking car, and after the run my clutch grabbed when the peddle was only a hair off the floor. That went back to normal rather quickly. Now I am having problems with 3rd gear though. It's like it does not want to go in at times. Other times it goes in without a hitch and then there are others where it grinds and pops out. Also it will grind when trying to shift fast from 2nd to 3rd when I'm getting on it. It just started this **** too. Even when putting around I need to really slam that bitch to 3rd as to make sure it does not pop out and/or grind. Also, the other night I was driving the car hard and the clutch peddle stayed to the floor. I had to grab it with my foot and pull it back up. That can't be good right? Haha. Anyway, what are your thoughts on the issues? Synchro in the tranny? Something else? Could the clutch be dying? Sometimes it is hard to get into 1st as well. This car is driving me nuts. Makes me wish I would not have put so much money into it.

Saying I do have a problem with the tranny. Where can I take it around the area to get it looked at or fixed? I don't have a ton of money to be shelling out right now for this. Just when I thought nothing else could go wrong.

Hey Andy, first thing I would do is change the fluid in your clutch resevoir. I have seen few issues with the fluid, plus its the cheapest thing to try See what color the fluid is and if its darker instead of clear, change it. The third gear issue could be in the tranny, the little plastic feet could have worn off the fork. Another thing, what shifter do you have, and does it have adjustable stops? It could be in the shifter.

Thanks for the reply Nate. I will try changing the fluid this week sometime. I have the stock hurst shifter with a short stick. It just doesn't feel like third is engaging all the way when I eventually get it in there.

andy, its the clutch broham! Mine grabs right off the floor also after a hard run, but doesnt slip. I pump it 8 or 10 times and then its golden and back to normal. I take it you got your cam problem figured out eh? otherwise that M6 should have ate you for dinner.

my clutch does the same thing, right after a hard run through the gears the clutch grabs right off the floor. and it gets back to normal right away. so is this a problem?? what is the clutch broham??

I think he meant, it is the clutch, "broham"...
These clutch issues are one of the main reasons I have an A4.

Well, at least they're consistently girly...

The M6 is more fun to drive and I got the Vette to be a sports car not a drag car. But for drag racing and no hassle city driving you can't beat the auto.

My auto does everything that an M6 will, except for a few hundred shifts per time I drive to the store & back & a few MPG. A stalled auto is plenty fun to drive!

Well when I hit a nice twisty road an auto won't do what the 6spd does and that's why I love it. I find it much more satisfying. I should have said "the M6 is more fun for me" everyone has their preference and "more fun" is completely subjective.
