Just got my ASVAB results and I received a score of 83. Is that a good score or should I take the test again?

Your GT score is what's going to really matter when it comes to picking your (final) MOS...
83 is a good score, see what your recruiter has to say about jobs that you can pick from and what isn't available because of your score; if there's something you really want that you can't get because of your score, then study and retake the test.

I believe the test is out of a total of 99 so 83 is good. You should be able to qualify for most jobs. GT and ST are better gauges though.

if your GT is 110 or above you did well. I dont know what ST is ^^^ but I know for most "good" jobs you need 110 on GT

83 is very good, most jobs only require at most 70 or so in General. Some will require a specific mechanical or administrative score, but you should be good for just about anything you wanna do.

83 is pretty good. I got an 87 or so and that equaled a 110 GT. 110 or higherGT and your good to go, I qualified for 160 or so MOS's.

i got a 71 on my asvab but my gt score was 123 so thats all that matters

my asvab score is a 76 and a 115 gt score, i pretty much had any job i wanted but i was a smart guy and went artillery.......... all because it gave the highest bonus at the time

With an 83 you should be good but just make sure your GT is above 110 as that will open a lot of doors.

wow! i feel like that geeky kid in high school who did nothing but study now lol. I got a 94on mine so the world was at my finger tips. though my line scores were what led me to my rate.

83 is a great score. My ASVAB was an 88 and my GT was a 127.

never heard of this gt...but i guess it doesn't matter anymore

some chick i knew got a 99 in everything, i saw her scores, no lie

another kid in basic got a 99, he was pretty dumb (common sense) wise, and BMT wise, but i guess he was a smart guy

It does matter, a GT of 110 is the cutoff score for a lot of career choices. An example is that a 110 is required to become a warrant or commissioned officer in the Army. It is not waiverable also.

GT is "General Trainability" it has nothing to do with your AFQT of 83. 71 is the qualifier for all jobs and i believe 110 is the gt requirement, 83 is good though. I got a 93 and scored a 140 GT score and i thought the test was stupid and easy, the gp of the military is pretty ******* stupid. The servicemen you find on this seem to all be pretty intelligent though. I hear ppl brag about getting high ASVAB scores and i just laugh at them. I mean seriously how can you brag about acing a test thats on a 8th grade level? Ask your recruiter for a copy of your line scores(he'll know what you are talking about) and then evaluate the requirements for all the mos' you are looking at. If you fall short then redo the test, make sure your satisfied BEFORE you go to basic because after that theres no re-takes.
