Just wondering how much the Corps taxes our bonuses for re-enlisting. I re-up'd in the rear. My bonus was for 71 grand, and im bout to receieve it once all the paperwork is submitted. I wonder how much, i am actually going to get after taxes. Any input would be helpful

All the grunt MOS's are closing out so I'm kind of fucked. Not like we get anywhere near 71K to reenlist anyways. I'd be lucky to get a quarter of that the way things are going with the budgets being cut.

As a married E-5 with no children and claiming 0 in withholdings on my federal taxes I got just a bit over 60K in the bank when I re-enlisted (Bonus was $81,000). As with everything though there is variables. I pay no state taxes, thank you Texas. So I hope this gives you a good idea of what to expect, but don't go crazy because if you are married and your wife works and has a reportable income like mine does. It may put you in a whole different tax bracket and they may come after you for a little more of that bonus when tax time comes. Just a heads up, because that one snuck up on me and bit me in the ***.

USMC bonuses in CONUS are calculated by using the FITW flat rate of 25% and the flat rate of your state if taxed by state. I can give you your actual payment if you'd like help. I'm not guessing here like some of the above... this is the actual way USMC bonuses are calculated.

Hmm I dont want to be the one to squash your good news. But I got my sign on bonus taxed while I was over seas, it all depends on where you actually signed up/re up. Tax is 25%, wtf is your MOS in the Marines to be getting 71k?
