I wish I could comment on that one, but I really don't know what the hell a maintainer does. I was a Combat Engineer and I know that the Navy Seebee's could hang with us all day when it came to building stuff. I have a lot of respect for those fellas

I think Dover is primarily a heavy base probably wont find choppers there, most likely with choppers you will end up at Vegas or Alaska

What base is this at? I do not know of an AD base that isn't manned by CP 24hrs a day... And the heavy equipment shop is almost manned 24hrs a day during the winter season just for that reason.
Welcome to my world. There might be 3 locations in the AF that has windows in my career field. I sit and listen to machines running for 12hrs a day. IG actually wrote it up as being a health hazard for fear of causing hearing problems later in life.
Sure do... I absolutely loathe my job at Minot being a Controller. Try being a Cop out there guarding an acft during a acft generation in the middle of winter when it gets to -30 frequently. There are definitely crappy jobs in the AF, but w/out a doubt, it is the plushiest of all the services by far. I got no problem admitting that. Thats why I joined the AF... I don't like being uncomfortable...
To the OP, if you can get in, I highly recommend doing so... You'll probably have a very fulfiling career after seeing the different sides. And thats not to say the Marines aren't a rewarding service. But if you want to get out, I'd bet you'll enjoy the AF.

It is a step up for sure. I save lives everyday and my job satisfaction is through the roof.
OP: Sent you PM to avoid the retarded raging in this thread. For shiggles though, the AF isn't the "chair force" people like to think it is. We work just as hard but get the benefit of better housing and treatment. I guess that makes us smarter.

IM Air Foce, I wouldnt say its easy you jsut have to be persistent and talk to the right people, go thru your chain and if no ones willing to help jsut talk to an air force recruiter, the only way you'll get in though is finding a job that undermanned.

I went to tech school with a former marine who came in as a SSgt, he seemed like he got in without too much trouble..
I'm at Little Rock AFB. Home of the Herc!
I also hate hatred between services, **** we all have the same ultimate job.

Really? Thats the **** that bugs me, everybody hatin on the cops because we have authority (which is well deserved). People wonder why SOME cops are dicks while the people on base they are working 13 hour days for to protect dont appriciate it and talk **** about them. No wonder. But as in the civilian world, you only like us when you need us.
