Default anyone ship there car overseas on there own dime?

I'm heading to Korea soon and I'm hoping for a follow on to Europe. I can only take one car per military member and I really want to take my Cobra. I think it would be sick to have my Cobra over there. So I'm wondering what the average cost is to have your car shipped if you pay for it. Want to see if its even worth it...Thanks guys!

Just a suggestion, as I came from there not too long ago, don't do it. You'll barely be able to drive it around post, and I remember gas being almost 2 bucks more a gallon over there. On top of that, you'll becomea target for others to hit. I suggest doing like many others have done, just get over there, buy the 500-1000 dollar kia/hyundai and save yourself many worries and headaches. Talk to your insurance company about how much insurance is every month there. Trying to get parts over there as well, having them shipped...not fun! Just a few things to think about while you're trying this.

It cost about 1400$ to ship my Trans Am from Germany to Texas with all the fees, not sure on what the cost would be going the other way.

Yeah you make some good points and Ive been thinking about them a lot. Once I get back in Jan from my deployment I will sale the car. As much fun as it would be to have it on certain days I think for the most part it will be a pain and cost a lot. Plus I can get a sick bimmer or benz if get over there and enjoy that.

I believe Blue baldness was referring to Korea.
Germany to include the rest of Europe is a whole different story.

I was, I have no clue about germany yet, but I know if I go, the Monte will stay in the states or get sold, either way. Good luck in whatever you decide, but save up the money from deployment and korea, and then once in germany you'll have a huge chunk o change to do whatever you want.

Oh yeah, forgot to add, DO ET!!! Bring it, you having an APO address for parts helps alot. And buy a beater so that you dont have to rely solely on your cruiser, bring it out for the nice days... I brought one F-Body over to the UK and left with 2 and it made my tour amazing to just go cruise around in.

I was overseas with mine. I would suggest to get a decent place with a fully closed garage. If you don't drive it much maintaining it shouldn't be a big deal. I wouldn't sell it if the car is already paid off. If I had to leave mine, I would put it in storage fully winterized(then you have your car here for when you get back).

Also, maybe you get a great offer on your Cobra over there.. Just food for thought..

It was about $1500. You'll put down $750 first and give the rest after you pick up the car.

Damn it guys....dont make me think more into it. lol!! I know it would be a blast to have over in Europe but with my current situation being that my family will be relocated during my short its just easier to sale it and not have to worry about it.

I know there is a lot of military selling there rides over there before they leave so Im sure I will find something fun. I really want something for the twisties.

You know where you are going? There are plenty of websites like craigslist that people have selling thier cars that are military. A buddy of mine found an 87 318i with a 92 M5 motor stuffed in it. Now that thing is ****** sick in the corners and had it up to 173mph on the straights.

Korea is a country full of adults playing a mix of bumpercars and needforspeed with crappy hyundais ad renaults.. I HIGHLY suggest thinking how much you love the body of your car before sending it there..

hell no...this all about shipping it to Europe. I would never take my ride to Korea, specially only for a year.

asian lsx, that sounds bad ***. It will be fun looking for rides like that over there...if I get it. I should know my follow on in a month or so.

Ive decided for sure, the car will be for sale. Going to sale it cheap as **** just to get it sold quick.
