Default Coast Guard info?

I'm thinking about joining the reserves. Mainly going that way first to make sure I enjoy it and that I can finish my next 6 months of tech school. I'm going to a tech school for mechanics. Will that help me any and should I wait to join or no? I understand that I wouldn't be doing to much as a reserve and that sucks but I guess I just want to get the feel first before I dive in. How bad is the pay? Anything I should look out for or do when signing up? What do you think?

Good luck. The CG is very small, and very selective because of their size so it can take a very long time to get it.

Tech school won't help you for say. I've been in almost 9 years it ain't bad. Guaranteed pay check and medical for life. I'm a mechanic a lot of my friends are and work for dealerships. They hate their job. I get to travel all over and pull in cool places in the Caribbean. Pay sucks in the beginning but it gets a lot better. If you do your job and study there are so many idiots all you have to do is be competent and do your job and you look like a rock star.
