For starters I'm not asking to get flamed, I'm looking for advice on upgrading a dischare from active duty army. My discharge is general under honerable conditions, RE3 code. The reason was AWOL. There were alot of extenuating circumstances which I feel would warrant an upgrade.

My main question is who do I talk to as far as counsel or representation? dept of veterans affairs, or? Also on the DD293 it is reccomended to include all personal records in the application. Do they want ALL of my records or just pertienent ones?

Since you have the right to request a Discharge Review Board. You may want to review this link for assistance. This will not be easy what you are attempting but it is your right.

Go join him in traffic DietCoke. Exercise some leadership and don't be so quick to jump to conclusions. The military is down-sizing so even a minor issue like a damn tattoo can get you discharged or denied for reenlistment. I was UA 1 day when I was assigned to a course at a different base during my divorce while getting kicked from housing and travel was personal responsability. The times were different. These days it could get me discharged. So go pound sand.

To the OP: good luck with that. There are reviews/appeals that you need to take advantage of.

I know of a few that have upgraded, but none that had AWOL on the list. Good luck though.
