Default Medically Retired

Well I've been going through an MEB for about 6 months now, last week they finally came back with thier decision. They are offering me permanent retirement, the AF is offering me 30% and the VA is at 50%, so basically from my understanding i'll just get the VA portion which is also tax free. I was pretty surprised they came back with retirement and honestly I'm still kind of in shock, not really sure what to do since I've been in coming up on 9 years now this is pretty much all I know. My plan is to find a decent paying job for now while I finish up school and then try to get in as a game warden.

Anyone else on here medically retired from the military?

You get both. The services only ever pay the first 30, the VA pays the rest. Its a combination.

Tx98 I'm finishing up my meb now. I'm waiting on my orders. I got 70 from the army and 90 from the va. Then I'm going to school at S.A.M . @ dietcoke not true about the benifit pay outs. Who ever has the higher dollar amount pays the check, but the service will give you all the other benifits like usage of post businesses and insurance.

96ztop is right I got pretty lucky 100 usmc and va but you only get one. What they don't tell you is that you can get social security disability as well I choose not to because that would be overkill in my case but if you can't work and you need more then I would try that as well. I stuck with tricare also free va care is a nightmare.
