Default Your best tour of duty in your career?

For those who have some time in and been around a bit. What was your best/favorite tour and why.
Mine was my last tour in Iraq in 05/06 with JIEDTF. Got to meet alot of cool guys from other groups, some awesome guys in from other task forces and the Psyops guys were crazy and fun.

Other than that, it would have to be Ft Ord, Ca. Loved every minute of it... that I can remember Buckin out bulls, partying at the Saddle Rack and ridin a few fillies along the way.

For me it would have to be my current station here at "Mother Rucker". I work as an instructor so it's a really smooth gig. Not even allowed to do any acft maintenance, everything is civy contracted, going to be a rough start when I get back to a line unit. 90 miles from the beach, year round riding weather, and (most importantly) the most time I've been able to spend with my family ever.

Never been so thankful to have a plane break before haha.

The 3 years at Camp Zama, Japan 1987-1989 in the US Army Aviation Detachment Japan, renamed 78th Aviation Battalion Provisional while I was there, was a close second place to the best UNIT I got the chance to serve with in my 22 years and 3 months.--- The 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment at Ft. Campbell, KY. Six years of awesome, Dec 1989-Nov 1995.

seems like all the planes "broke" there lol. I'd let the AF take a stripe to have that again.

Anderson AFB, Guam isn't horrible! But the trip there and back (to/from Maine) is. Spent almost as much time under the water as I did above it. Certainly more time in the water than fixing jets!

95-99 Yokosuka Japan
99-02 Misawa Japan
02-06 Atsugi Japan

Japan was awesome, after that I had to suffer the next 9 years in California.

I was in Misawa Jan 2011- Mar 2014... Now I am at RAF Alconbury. As much as I didn't like being in Misawa, I actually really miss it and would take it over Alconbury any day!

Baumholder Germany.
I got to see castles, drink German beer (it seemed like every town had their own brewery) that they would deliver and pick up the empty racks, train with other countries, take an M1 Abrams on the autobahn.

4 Month TDY during the summer to Sigonella Sicily for $140 bucks a day, a rental car and my own to bedroom apartment with a washer/dryer and full kitchen. Laughed at how ridiculous that TDY was all the way through the Afghanistan deployment 8 months later. But honestly, FOB Fenty still beat the hell out of Ali Al Salem, Kuwait.

3rd Battalion 7th Marines from 2008-2012. Best battalion that I've been with so far hands down!! and Ive been in the corps for over 14 years. Most memorable deployment with them was to Sangin, Afghanistan in 2010
