it was on the uss pearl harbor. We thought it was just a drill. we ended up circling the wreck site for seven days looking for survivors or remains 7 marines never got out.

This video was never supposed to be released but i found it today (to my surpise).accidentaly

That is truly terrible and I've been in that position before. It looks like the pilot comes in a little too hot and the awkward thing is...no rough seas. It looks a little choppy but not bad. I always wonder about those nets too and how a "runner" or wheel could get caught on them. A different design is needed IMO.

I've seen that video before. It's been out for a while to my knowledge. Probably just pilot error, really sad that other's lost their lives because of it. The pilot made a half assed flare and was coming in way too hot.

This incident happend in late 2000 when we were trying to get SOC qualified so we could be part of the MEU SOC and do a west pac. Today was the first time i have ever seen that footage.
