Navy Lifer beads?
My step-father who was in the navy back in the mid 70's said when you go past your 8 yr mark your considered a lifer. He was an Aviation Machinist Mate, I don't know if that tradition was specific to the aviation community or not. I'm a ET(conventional) in the surface warfare communtiy. Any onr know about these beads?

I was active USN in different aviation communities from '70-'90, never heard of lifer beads. But during my next to last tour in the VP community a lot of guys had "worry beads? on their flight jackets, probably from all those GCA's approaching Jax in the summer. Was he was in a VA or VP squadron in Jax/Cecil Field?
