Get in excellent physical shape. Start running 10 mile runs once or twice a week. Lots of squats to build up the legs and lots of back exercises. The most important thing though is to do a lot of ruckmarching moving up to a 45 lb bag. Most of selection will be navigating on foot with the bag and trekking. Get physically and mentally prepared. You can quit when you are there you need to be prepared mentally so that you will refuse to quit.
I would suggest going in the fall or winter, its too damn hot there in the summer to do all that rucking.

when youre training on those ruck marches mentioned above take water but dont drink a lot, get your body used to it. Most of the people that were recycled or removed without quitting were because of foot injuries or heat exhaustion. So take care of your feet and drink water and do what youre told and its not impossible

Oh yes take care of the feet, that is a priotity. And when you are there be careful, people every class dont listen and wear the provided eye protection and there is always 1 or 2 people that get slammed with a branch in the eye when walking through the woods.

On Ft.Hood here they have SF PT where you do PT with the SF recruiters. We have had 3 guys in my troop go through so far and they all have made it. One of them wanted to get out of the unit sooo bad he kept a Squadron coin on him and pulled it out every time he needed some motivation lol
Good Luck.

My friend did the SFAS and Q course a while back. He said the hardest part was that because of all the ruck marching and carrying of equipment, you get blisters everywhere on your back, hands, and feet. I'd imagine if you get really used to marching with a loaded pack and weapon at a decent pace, you will make it. He also said that for the Q course, alot of stress is put on the acidemic portion. If you where the guy that barely passed high school you'll fail.
I also read a thing that says before you try out, its highly recommended that you are able to do the following:
75 push ups in 2 mins, 1 min rest
75 sit ups in 2 mins, 1 min rest
8 dead hang pull ups, 1 min rest
then run a 7:00 or faster mile in boots.
Its also recommended that your used to running 6-8 miles at a time as part of your regular workout.

Went through a little over a year ago now I leave for sage next sunday. The best advice I can give is to take it a day at a time and never even let the word quite come into you mind. If you go with the attitude that you will die before you quite than it was not that hard. I went through when it was 21 days but a few guys I have talked to say the 14 day is just as hard. Also feet maintanace is a must, get those feet as hard as you can before hand.
