What year was the R1? I'm sure your car is pretty quick, but R1's are really kinda slow on the straights, they just have no mid-range power at all, unless it has a spray. I've raced an '01, '06 and '07 R1's with slip-ons from a roll with my '07 Gsxr1000 w/ slip-on and I just leave them everytime. Nevertheless, your car still runs awesome to be able to hold-off a 1000cc crotch rocket.

It is an 2004. This R1 is not slow. He pulls a new ZX10 with a slip on.

If he can pull a new ZX10R, then that '04 R1 definately has more than just a slip-on, either that or the new ZX10R rider just sucks. Gotta love that Vette, though.

Both are good riders.

Here is the video of those two running. R1 out 2 bikes.

I guess what I mean to say is that, R1's (xx-'08 model year) with just a slip-ons are slower compared to a newer GSX-R1000 or ZX10R on a straightline racing, that's because R1's just doesn't have the mid-range pull like the other 2 bikes I've mentioned, R1's were never really known for their power, you have to do more than just a simple slip-ons to make it any faster, but handling is where they really shine, now GSXR1000's and ZX10R's have always been known for their brute power. My nephew had a '07 R1 with a Leo Vince slip-ons and he admits that my '07GSX-R1000 is much faster than his '07R1, they just don't have any mid-range.

You have to be a rider and have ridden both bikes to know exactly what I'm talking about.

Yup the new ZX10r is the most bad *** litre bike engine ever built. It will flat out smoke anything on a highway roll.

Like I said, it has to have more than just a slip-on. I've seen it and raced them too many times to know this for a fact. And ofcourse, riders weight and ability to shift fast enough at the right point also plays a big factor.

Here look at this https://ls1tech.com/forums/12389072-post11.html

100-180mph in under 12 seconds that smokes everything, including the zx14 and hayabusa.

I see what you are saying, nice info there. I still wouldn't use slow and R1 in the same sentence...maybe 'not as fast'?

Ok, I know the guy and it only has a slip on. Either way, the R1 wins that is why we videoed the races. Maybe with a pro rider then it would be a different story, but that just makes the Z06 look better because he caught the ZX10 from a 60-170 roll. From an 80mph roll neither bike hung with the Z06. Wait until I have the video with the Z06 on the N20.
