Default What type of HD video camera's do you guys have?

Looking at buying a HD video camera and want to get something decent. What do you guys use? What do you like/dislike about them?

Thanks!

are you talking about a camera that takes HD video or one that records onto a Hard Drive? if its the hard drive recording your talking about, then i like my JVC Everio camera a lot! i got a 60 gig one for around $380 i believe out the door. its great though to not have to deal it dvds or cds, and to just be able to delete things i dont want and have immediate free space.

If you want a camera the takes actuall high def. video be ready to pay out hte *** for one. cnet made it sound like you couldnt get a good one for under 2k.

I'm in the same boat, picking one up soon enough. I would stay away from Sony personally, unless your just looking to do some simple recordings, nothing action wise. Yes they have a good picture, but Sony is a huge disappointment in adding on extensions. Meaning if you want to add on an extended microphone, different wide lenses, lights etc... they really don't offer anything but their own products that can fit, which can get outrageous in pricing. The other thing I noticed is that they have some really dumb functions that block you from doing any possible outside/exterior filming at higher speeds.

I have 2 dcr sr60s for shooting car videos and whatnot. I bought these before HD really hit it big. They're 30 gb hard drives built in. The quality is there but you cannot buy anything other than sony products for it. And another thing, if you do not buy the ELITE most expensive camcorder half the time sony doesn't make extensions for their mid line, ridiculous. Other thing is that my cameras just shut off when I use my exterior mount. I've turned off any type of antishake function, timer etc... and the damn things still just shut off. That has me so disappointed you have no idea. Can't even film my car with a exterior mount. I'm so done with sony. Just giving you my experience with them.

Which brings me to Canon. I have a buddy with a HD Canon, AMAZING picture and doesn't have the same bullshit as Sony. My own personal opinion, I choose Canon over any other brand out there. They are the elite in video and photography right now.

I'd like whatever one I get to have a built in hard drive I think thats just the way to go. I was kinda looking at this sony video camera but i'm not a big sony guy. Looks like you can add a fisheye lens and what not to it. I'd like to get my budget around 400-600 http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Sony+-+H...=1218046368285

Flip Video by Cisco. Cheap, easy to use and good picture. Also small and rugged enough to take anywhere you'd take ur cell phone

do research on a canon HV30 or HV40. It isnt a hard drive camera. It has a tape but it has by far the best picture quality for any camera under $1200. You may be able to find them for around $700.
Here are a couple compressed screenshots i have. You just have to hook the camera up to a big widescreen to really see the unbelievable raw quality.

Yeah I was thinking about getting one of those but your kinda limited on what you can all film IMO. I like the fact that I could hook it up and then go drive and not have to worry about someone else having to hold the video camera but like the abilities of a standard video camera where you could film races and what not.
