Default ome messing around I've been doing lately

Just some random stuff I have been doing since I got the new camera.

Guess these are the only two small enough to post.

They were shot with a 3200 ISO f/5.0 and one was a 2sec exposure while the other was a 2.5 sec exposure

I have had real good luck using 400 to 800 iso for those kind of shots with f/3.5 with my exposure comp sent to plus 1.5 it helps clean some of the noise out of the picture. Photography is hard but it looks like your learning fast

Little overexposed on the first one but cool pics man. I like taking night shots with passing cars.

Were you using a tripod?

The best way to learn to use it is to just play around with it. Ive got hours and hours into just messing around taking pictures with my camera. I can read how to do something but it never sticks with me until I actually do it with the camera once or twice.

I have a Cannon Rebel XS.

Actually I have been doing this for over ten years now, but haven't really ever done any night shooting except for lightning back home. I've only had the camera a couple of weeks as well, so I am still just messing aroun d with it. I would have rathered go done on aperature speed, but it wasn't letting me so i settled with the 5.0. i actually really like how it turned out. Though I wish it wasnt so damned windy out last night. I may go out tonight and mess around some more. hopefully the wind will have calmed down some by then too.

Its cool man. Like I said above I've been doing this since I was 15 and will be 26 in a couple months, and I still am learning how too mess with all this ****. I'll PM you a good site I am on that you could read and learn all the fancy terms we use. My last camera was a Canon S5 IS and it helped me learn alot about exposure wettings, aperature (the f/5.0 in my photos) and ISO settings. I would recommend it to anyone who wants to be serious about photography. It isn't a DSLR like my 50D is, but it is a really nice point and shoot that can teach you alot about settings.

Here are some others but with much longer exposure times. The first highwya one is i think 8 sec and the second is 30 sec. the moon shot is around 6 sec.

I'll be the a-hole and say the first two pictures arent even close to being called "good". Get a tripod if you're going to do stuff like that, crank the ISO back and lengthen the exposure. Also the sigma 70-300 lens is only about 175. not a super lens but it works for what you're doing. Your middle highway shot is nice and sharp, no reason the first two shouldnt be.

I think we all know that the first pics are not up to par but the overall concept is good. I think we all need constructive criticism. I have had my nikon d40x for a year and i still suck, but every once in a while i get something i like and that what it's all about
