Default 88 IROC with 408, Glide, N/A, 6.30@108.9 MPH 1/8 Mile video

Just something I tossed together. Member TJ, running a 6.30@108.9 in his 88 IROC with an LQ4 or LQ9 based 408 stroker, and a powerglide. Actually went a 6.29 earlier in the day before this. N/A, pump gas, and yes it has a 4th gen dash, gauges etc.

dont know wtf that was about.
not the normal for sure.
just got the brake hooked up. small rocking issue. if i cant adjust it out with the band im going to have to put a line lock on the rear inline to keep it from rocking.

What are the cam specs Pat G did for you? I am wondering if it is the same grind from my old TFS headed 416. I had a third gen for a long time and always wanted to make a drag car out of one. Nice ride and great run.

thats the jist of it anyway. i can dig up the cam card is you need any specific #'s
it was ground off a lsl lobs(new at the time) looks like a lot of folks are running smaller versions of this lobe.
its worked out really well for me. street miles and 100 passes on the motor, the valve train hasnt changed notes or made funny noises. had the valve covers off. valve tips, pushrods and rockers look good. no wear pattern anywhere.

That is pretty much it. I was talking to Pat the other day about a cam for one of my customers 418's and he asked me if I wanted my PRAY cam. I had to laugh because I didn't know I had a cam named after me. I was wondering if it was the same one that was in your car. Same lobes, lift and duration just a tighter lobe sep for the carb in your car. I daily drove my car and went 106+ in the 1/8 in my daily driver Z06. I think it is the perfect 400+ TFS 235 headed cam. I never had any problems with it and made 575/530rw SAE on a tight dyno. You are using it to its full potential which I was never able to do. Keep it up, that thing is flying.

i put down 510 on slick through a 9" and a 5200 stall on a "stingy" dyno.

motor peaked at 7100, not sure about your setup.
i figured it was good for 565-580 if it had a stickshift in it. my guess was pretty close.
for what it is, the car drives in traffic really nice. ive had much slower setups in the car, and rode in other cars that were not as smooth as mine.
granted you can only do so much for drivability with a carb over efi, but its pretty smooth sailing.

TJ, why don't we put a 200 plate kit on there and run some mid-low 5's??
Non the less, it's bad *** for a N/A setup, and I love the interior as well.!

I don't know how much your car weighs but I ran those times in my sig at 555/500rw and 3,390lbs or so. The clutch was still coming around and I still had some tuning to do. Once that was done it put down the 573/530rw. I have stock 3.42's and the stock MN12 gears so the car was not maximized for the track in any way shape or fashion. The motor put down what it did with a less than optimal 2 1/2" exhaust, no EWP and the intake was completely in tact with a small Vararam. The uncorrected numbers that day were 590rw550tq. I think with the exhaust and water pump plus some intake track work it would have gone over 600/550rw SAE. My motor through the FAST 92 peaked at 6,000 and table topped to 6,500 then fell off pretty hard. I think a single plane would have made better use of the power band but I would have lost some tq and drivability. I never had problems driving the car though. Ran nice and smooth.

soon We had to put some k-member spacers on his car so it would fit under hood

thanks chris.
its fun to tweak this thing on motor. never thought it would go this fast. i only wanted 6.50's when i put it in the car and have exceeded that by the 1st pass it ever took down the track.
sauce is comming, dont know how much this converter will hold, but i intend to shoot as much as i can before too long.
my biggest drawback at the moment is my fuel system. i am at or near its limits.
i may do my headers and exhaust and find i pick up nothing, being borderline on fuel.
the car has never laid down, but not to say it wont go faster with more fuel to the fire.
