Default New standing mile world record - 252 mph Ford GT

Performance Power Racing has built a ridiculously awesome Ford GT...

It is the first car to break the 250 mph barrier in the standing mile, currently holding the record at 252.97 mph.

Specs from the PPR website:

Horsepower: 1800 RWHP est.
Torque: 1450 RWTQ est.
Wheels: CCW Custom 18”/19” Staggered
Motor: Performance Power Custom Build
Suspension: Performance Power
Suspension Upgrade
Brakes: Performance Power AP 6 Piston Brake Upgrade

Untouchable?

Someone educate me on the standing mile since I don't have any knowledge of the rules. I can certainly
appreciate the 252mph feat, but I don't understand why drag racers haven't taken this event over. Guys
run 250mph in the 1/4 mile in pro mods. Why not gear them differently (and pray that the motor hold together) and
make a mile long pull? They run over 200mph in the 1/8mile while 252mph in a mile impresses everyone. It's definitely
crazy for a street car though.

I think it's because most pro stocks aren't setup for a long haul run where it would probably become unstable to drive. Im sure 300+ would be achievable but I'm sure people would crash.

Lol I definitely wouldn't be surprised if some 'bigger players' started showing up. I'm not sure of the official rules, either, though...

Either way, I really doubt the current record will last with the caliber of competition that's out there, like the Heffner car:
