They've been using the FXX's as testbeds for new technology and systems that end up in their road cars. Mind you, this is the same treatment people get when they "buy" one of Ferrari's F1 cars. They have full service of the vehicle by Ferrari mechanics/engineers, and you get to run it a few times if you're lucky.

I'd much rather have a different form of dedicated track car, without all the nanny stuff.

When you consider the amount of proprietary technology that goes into these testbeds you can't really argue about them being strict. The last thing they want is someone tampering with them and either stealing their secrets or screwing up the tune or something of that nature.

meh most people that buy these cars anyways usually roll in strech limos or other fancy 200+k cars or private jets.

Its either it sits in their garage and comes out 5 times a year or they go to these events. Wouldn't be any different IMO.

Is this even a question? Who wouldn't want to be baller enough to have a car that the Ferrari factory takes care of for you and hauls to the track for you. If you're that dude, you're awesome and probably have plenty of other cars to play with when you want to.
