With the purchase of a new Z06 (LS7) or ZR1 (LS9) it's a $5800 option.

Even more expensive as a crate engine.
A $13,500 LS7 crate engine turns into a Build your own $22,756 LS7 OUCH! ($9200 extra)
A $20,700 LS9 crate engine turns into a Build your own $32,050 LS9 DAMN!! ($11,350 extra)

So they offer it but charge so much that they may as well not offer it! I know many people that buy these crate engines or cars, have too much money but you can buy entertain yourself much better then building your own crate engine! It would be cool for $1000-$2000 extra but if those numbers are correct that is ridiculous!

It would be a once in a lifetime opportunity for some people, and some of those people have the money to blow. You can't expect them (GMPP) to let some average joe come in and slow down the whole production line and it not cost extra. Be reasonable.

I am sorry but this is pretty f*cking retarded. Why would you pay money, on top of the purchase price, just for opportunity to do it yourself? I mean a subway sub could be $9.50 instead of $5 if I was allowed behind the counter to DIY? Talk about selling ice to an Eskimo.

I've assembled a few LS engines, but most people lack the skill and/or tools to do so. This gives them a chance to say I assembled my engine. Not many average guys can say that. Why is this so hard to understand? There are people dropping $25k a night on a hotel room and you don't talk **** about them. There's a million ways to waste your money.........

Doesn't look like there are too many people that choose to build there own based on the 16 or so pictures on the wall at the end. Still pretty cool that they even offer the option. Wonder how many build their own motor and then go to Bowling Green and drive their Z06 off the line?

Average age of new Corvette customer is 50+ years old.. So they don't do that many participants anyways. But, people of that age, and caliber, that can afford the 70k-120k price tag, can afford a few more grand for the experience.

Everyone is entitled to there opinion but I think you might be the biggest ******* idiot ever. We aren't talking about subway subs, we are talking about going into an exclusive building that very few people get to enter, let alone get there hands on the state of the art equipment inside. Then put it to use. So then when they go out and drive the $100,000 or much more custom car they can say they built there engine and it has a factory warranty.

I am sure you would love to tour the ***** factory that made your that is apparently shoved sideways up your *** when you made this post.

Us around here have a hard time wrapping our heads around the outrageous price! I think we all agree it is a bit outrageous.

I saw this on TV when they first did it. I think Joe Elmore also was in the factory talking about it as well.
