Default My ls1 knocking :(

my lil old ls1 finally giving up started smoking and knocking...i have already started to pull it,im going to pull it from the bottom since heard it was easier?
another thing the motor going in is a 2004 lq4 from a truck...so anything besides oil pan/pulley do i have to swap over?

I've helped someone do it from the bottom for a bit, he did most of it. It all depends on what you have available, workspace, etc. You have to be able to lift the front end of car up fairly high.

How many miles on that LS1?

Ouch.

Remember to tap the third hole for the alternator mount. The boss it there, it's just not drilled/tapped.

The F-body water pump needs to be used as well, the neck doesn't clear the lower intake.
