Default '82 LQ9 Regal and STOCK '13 ZL1 Runs

Finally got the 10's in the Regal after ditching the oring style OEM gaskets in favor of the Felpro single piece intake gaskets... (Still running a little rich at 11.9 to 12.4 AFR.

Now to work on the suspension to get some 1.50-1.45 60's and switch to a race carb with a 1" CNC 4hole spacer...

ZL1 was showroom stock and the first time the owner ever had it on the track!! Did way better than I thought he would, considering the DA...

boxed control arms, HRparts sway bar and an airbag in the right rear will get that thing hooking. Do you have solid mounts? If you havent already swaped the rear brakes, the S10's brakes will help alot. My TurboT's brakes would get pretty hard before the S10 brakes.

Got the Lakewood Traction Action Liftbars, but dont think the S10 brakes will work on a Ford 9inch... But i could be wrong... Currently no sway bar, looking at the UMI Antiroll bar.. Instead of the air bag I was putting 5-6psi in the right rear Air shock, it helped keep the car from doing the Gbody shimmy but didnt help much on the launch... I think Ill be installing my Summit Rear Drag shocks, Anti Roll Bar on the rear end, back to 4.56's and some Hoosiers or MT ET drags, depending on what class I wont to run in next season..

Might add a Pro Systems SV1 carb or Holley Ultra HP. Might even go Holley HP EFI system!! depends on what funds look like

Will an SV-1 work at that low of a HP level? I thought that was for big boys.

You won't find many who know anything about it here. You might want to ask your SV1 questions on the Bullet.

The SV1 is for big boys. It for engines that move alot of air, so generally a smallblock wouldn't see much of a gain. It would hhave to be a motor like the SAM car or Bobby Lashley's car to see a gain and even then I think it will only pick up a little. If you go on Pro Systems site and look at the testimonials, all those guys have 550+ cu in big blocks.

Still, all those people saw gains don't mean you will on your engine. The smallest engine they used it on was a 439 cu in small block but that thing had to be an animal since they had 2 1150 dominators on it. Trust me, a 364 cu in pump gas motor won't pick up any with that carb.

Probly look into a Holley Ultra HP or BG, Pro systems, AED, etc... modified holley then.

Or start swaping it over to fuel injection.

Call pro systems for one of their 4150's. Never ever heard a bad thing about them.

will have to give them a call..

Im sure there is a little power left on the table by going with a race carb. Would like to add a 2" 4 hole CNC spacer too.

I have an 87 GN that I would like to put a 4.8, 5.3 or 6.0. Really don't have any more money after my AES 390 project...how much do you figure you've put into it?? I have a left over D1SC headunit since I went bigger so that will help. How hard was it to install the block did you have to move the motor mounts? Or did it slip right in?

Total I have about $4500-5000 into the entire car....

Rear end, Converter, Motor, Heads, Cam, Intake, Flexplate, we built the alternator brackets, made the mistake of buying motor mounts then only used the adapter plates and older mounts, had a local machine shop make the DS, but the stock length Gbody shaft out of a TH350 Regal/Cutlass/Monte worked fine while we were testing things out..

So its definitely budget...

Motor installed pretty easy with the 1" Set back plates and used the stock Driveshaft like I stated above.

Here is a whole budget thread on this car:
