I think GM needs to design a new sports car line. Somthing that weighs 2500 lbs and has an ls2 with enough room in the engine bay for a nice turbo set up. They should hire some of us on this forum to design it!

they need some more moles in forums like this to see what the people who actually buy their cars and want to continue to buy their cars have to say. My family is straight GM but sometimes they make it really hard to keep dropping cash on them.

I haven't watched the documentary, but I'm about to. I think even with the Volt them filing bankruptcy is inevitable. However, I guarantee that the government will bail them out, more than once if they have to. A company like GM going under will shake the economy, not so much directly on the markets but psychologically, I bet it would make a lot of people think twice about investing in certain markets. Just my .02.

That documentary was well done. I have always been a GM man and I always will be. That documentary made me want to go out an buy a new Camaro. I hope the Camaro will do well. Maybe I will sell my wifes stinking VW and buy her a new Camaro. GM will look foolish if the Camaro flops. I have my fingers crossed!

If GM (any of the big 3 US) is to survive IMO, labor rates are going to have be competitive, which means cutting the hourly rate in half and those high dollar salaries to match the import car makers margin to make revenue or cash in the bank. The loss of revenue margin in labor rates is huge. The imports don't have this issue. As we all know that reads this board, we must have a better than average salary or you're not taking the job. Overseas people will take a job making a dollar a day. We've seen the 1.00 asian worker, we're wearing the Nike's. They will need younger more free thinking design engineers that can design todays fashion car, not 60's and 70's designer's. And continue their pursuit to upgrade the materials and **** can those cheap materials that plagued the GM cars they have used in the past.
But the biggest problem today, maybe in the last 10 years, convincing America. Can America accept and buy a car that americans made with quality. This means having confidence in your friend, relative, family member who works for GM or the other 2 US makers. Ask yourself or these people that buy foreign, would they buy from you if you were on that assembly line or you were designing the car or you were responsible for the materials.
