I've been checking those out online for a little while. I used to have a 06 MKV GTi 6 speed man, loved driving it. Just drove a friends brand new Mazdaspeed3. I drove it 3 miles and didn't like it like all the reviews made me feel like I should. The front end felt like every bushing in it was poly, absolutely slams on rough road and had some very noticeable turbo lag. I wanna drive one of those SS sedans when I finally see one. Nice car, great pics!! Let the mods begin!!!

Speed3 had turbo lag? Maybe you buddies car was broken but my Speed6 spooled under 2k rpms and was at full spool at no more than 2,500 rpms...Speed6 pwns Speed3 if you can get one for a good price.
Anyways, 4 door Cobalt SS/TC is a great DD, nice aquisition man!

Just just had a different set of toys., otherwise I was torn on the 3 and cobalt.
3 had zenon's, 6 speed, slightly more tq, more room, etc
cobalt has boost gauge, xm, bluetooth, better stereo, onstar, launch control and my 09 was the same price as an 08 Mazda so I went with the Cobalt.

I haven't been around a new Cobalt SS yet so I can't really compare the two, my bud has had an 05 Ion Redline and 05 Stage 2 Cobalt SS and my Speed6 was superior in practically every way. Even Stage 2 his car was barely faster than mine stock, despite his car weighing 500 lbs less than mine. A cone filter and open dp and I held him off until 140mph when my boost was cut down to 6 psi.
I loved the stock Bose in the Speed6, I'm not sure if the 3 had a woofer but mine had a nice 10" in the back deck, bumped nice for stock. Boost gauge and Bluetooth would've been nice but overall I liked my car better, plus with awd I had useful power in 1st and 2nd gear.
All that said, I need to get a ride in one of the new ones, see what a turbo does in place of the blower.

From what I have read (lots of late night reading) they are dead even 1/4 mile and 60mph times so thats even. It takes some mods for the s/c cobalts to keep up with the stock new t/c model.
<---------cant wait to suprise some people! Come dow and get a ride!!!

From what I've read on the Solstice Forums, there is not a lot of room to increase the boost on these engines without really starting to compromise them. I think you have to do big money things to make them really fast. Regardless, very nice car! I think that 2.0 T is a very nice engine and would love to have on in a GXP Solstice. I just wish they could make the Sol as affordable.

Really? I thought these little Ecotecs were stout out of the box? My bud bought a non-turbo Solstice and put an aftermarket turbo kit with a 35r on and hasn't had any troubles in 8 months or so. I don't really know how much he's boosting or how hard he beats on it because he's off at school but it seems trouble free so far...
