What does it mean to 'crank over the engine'?

Okay, that's what I thought. I'm going to be running some GM top end cleaner through my engine. I was going to put the fluid in the plug holes, and after you let it sit you need to turn the engine with the plugs out. I just wanted to make sure it was safe to do so by using the starter.

Yeah that's fine to do ... just make sure you put some towels outside your plug holes, because when you turn it over fluid is going to fly everywhere.

Mustang: From what I have read, the liquid is supposed to do a better job of getting rid of the carbon deposits.

Then hop in the car, turn the key, let it crank for a few seconds (or whatever the directions say) then you're all set.
