Default Ram Air vs SLP Air

just bought an 01 WS6. I plan on doing simple bolt ons for now, but i have a question about the SLP Ram Air kits. Are they any different besides the K&N filter then the stock Ram Air that comes in the WS6 package? Are there any performance differences?

Ram Air doesn't do anything. If your car is stock then any aftermarket lid/filter/cai will be better.

K&N will eventually foul your MAF, the SLP CAI
raises your inlet air temps relative to stock SS
or Ram Air hoods, and a lid is a lid. So just buy
a lid. Which you can find for less, for sure.

I assume you should pair the lid with a K&N filter to see the best results...?

BUT, I have also read about MAF problems IF the K&N is cleaned incorrectly, and that some are happy with their paper filter. I've still got my (clean) stock filter. JMO based on what others have posted....

Worth looking into port and polish TB, and TB bypass too IMO.

K&N and all other reusable filters allow more dirt through than paper.

So if my factory filter is filthy, I should just pick up another factory one?...Interesting.

I've read about the TB bypass mod, but am skeptical about the gains on that one....

The TB bypass is small gains if any, nothing you will feel. But it is based on the fact that every little bit helps.

i have a K&N in my 2000 for what seems to be forever,, no problems with my maf, i have never cleaned it or whatnot (maf, i clean my filter maybe once or twice a year). i do have the slp maf though, maybe thats the diff... and i do only drive it roughly 3000 miles or so a year.

Fast Toys Ram Air + Lid + Ported/Polished TB and you'll be good to go, since you already have an LS6 intake manifold.

As for the K&N filter: I've heard about the fouled MAF, but never had the problem myself. My theory is if you clean it properly, and DONT OVER-OIL the K&N, and let it dry properly (instructions say at least 24 hours... so have a spare paper filter handy)... shouldnt be a problem. I ran one for two years with no problem on my last bird before switching to a paper filter (got too lazy to clean the K&N, so it just sat in my garage. I still have it, and I am considering throwing it on my new birdie, since the cleaning kit is cheaper than buying a new paper filter and lasts longer).

the FTRA is as effective on the SS...? I thought that was a T/A piece...hmmm.
