Do you have a check engine light? If so, it may be your Camshaft Position Sensor. I have a friend that had a mouse chew threw the CPS wiring while his car was in storage over the winter. Started it that spring and no tach and then an SES light. Had the wiring fixed and everything was good to go. That may be one place to start.

I believe the garage that fixed my buddy's car had to remove the intake to get to the CPS/wiring in order to repair it. I hope this doesn't scare you. If it does happen to need to come off and you don't already have the LS6 intake, this would be a great time to upgrade. Kill two birds with one stone. Hope this helps. Good luck.
