Almost all aftermarket cams require an aftermarket stall. so stall and tranny build, then cam

you dont need to have a torque arm but it helps. relocation brackets are a must in my book. i dont know much about parts for the transmission i just bought mine already built and ready to go.

If your transmission is low on miles then I think you would be fine with a cam for a good while. BTW how many miles on the car?

3200-3600 stall + bilstein shocks + eibach springs + MT Drag radials = a really good time and what you must do next

Do what I wish I did the first time. Build your tranny, and then put a nice rearend under, and then a 200shot.

I started out cam, nitrous. Then before you know it, your rearend is **** and your tranny doesnt shift anymore, do it right the first time, do some suspension parts, tranny, rear. Then worry about power. If you have a 600rwhp car and nothing to back it up, it wont go anywhere.

well are you going to get a cam kit? or just a new camshaft? and how much do you have to spend? a cam is $350-400 then you have springs, locks, retainers..you can also upgrade the pushrods while you are in there..and if you are going to do the new timing chain you might as well put in a ported ls6 oil pump anyways.
did the guy at summitt tell you that if you go with an aftermarket cam that you will also more than likely need a new tune? or did he want to sell you a hand held tuner? hypertech/diablo sport etc...
what i did with my formula when i did the cam swap was to get new lifters, pushrods, patriot gold .650 springs with locks and retainers, i also did the new timing chain and ported ls6 oil pump. no it was not cheap but quality parts arent cheap to begin with.
and who was going to do the install work? if you are then fine, but if you are going to farm it out then you have to figure in that cost as well..
If you have never been inside an automatic transmission your best bet is to probably get ahold of one of the local sponors here and see what they offer..most of them are very very well versed in *cam only* cars with an auto and a stall..they can also tell you what gears you should run to get the most out of your current set up.
and if you havent learned by now..once you start modding you never quit...it's more addicting than your first peice of ****..

For the suspension..spend the money and get the konis and stranos combination or the qa1 coilovers..i know they are not cheap but everybody on this site who has them swears by them...i myself went with the bilstein shocks and eibach springs as you were suggested to do...my ride is a little harsher than what i prefer...just food for thought

get a yank ss3600 or performabuilt converter with a performabuilt or flt trans mission. my car had a stock motor and performabuilt trans and 3600 converter and i loved it you will not regret it. it was easy to drive around town and i even had 2.73 gears it would have been even better with some 3.42s or 3.73s. my stock 10 bolt rear end started making noise after about a week it ran so hard lol. i would be ordering a 12 bolt rear if it dident get totled last week.

if you want to do it right get the trans built and a good converter then rear end. after that you can do whatever you want to the motor if you have a nice size converter you can get a nice cam to compliment it and it will be a monster!!!

The general rule of thumb is to build your f-bod back to front.

I ignored this rule and now I have a rear louder and more annoying than my ex-wife and a tranny with buttery 2/3 - 3/4 shifts. But oooohhhhh has it been fun
