Fram Air Hog?????
I bought my Z last year and removed the factory air lid to reveal a strange looking orange cotton mesh appearing filter. I looked it up and as far as I can tell, it's a Fram Air Hog filter. These were supposedly re-usable high flow filters. Question is, has anyone else used these? Should I use a K&N instead? Is there a difference? Is this hurting performance? Thanks. Sorry for all the questions.

a washable filter is a washable filter is a washable filter. Dont expect hp gain with any washable filter over paper. nothing wrong with what you have. no need to waste more money on another brand of the same thing.

Either keep the air hog or use paper, don't switch reusable filters, the air hog will flow just fine
Paper=filter better
Reusable=slightly more air
Up to you. Switching to K&N or any of those doesn't really give a big boost in performance, but it can't hurt either. Personally, I wouldn't use one, I'd rather keep the extra crap outta my engine
