Brand new 243 heads? As in, never used? For $100? Used, 243 heads go for like, $500 IIRC.
No way. Buy them so F'ing fast. Just don't use the cam. Put a real cam in it and use the 243 heads for a great budget build. You'll have to replace the springs and pushrods, though.

im getting the heads for 600 both with springs and valves pr. im getting the ls6 cam for 100. is it worth putting the ls6 cam in at all for that? im not trying to make a drag car here just taking advantage of this deal. not trying to spend any more money than i have too. and do you rely need to replace all the valves springs and pr???

The heads are going to help you out a good bit, but the ls6 cam probably isnt worth the trouble of installing it if you look at the minimal amount of hp gain its going to net you over the ls1 cam w/ the ls6 heads. I know youre not trying to spend too much, but a bigger aftermarket cam is going to blow the ls6 cam out of the water, especially on those better heads. As far as the springs and pr, you really only need to change them if you go with an aftermarket cam, the stock springs and pr will be fine with ls1 or ls6 cam.
IMO save a few more bucks and get a bigger cam/springs/pushrods setup and you will be really pleased, i love my cam, just get a really good tuner to tune the car and you will be happy. The springs and pushrods are really all you'd be out on the money, bc if you swap in the ls6 cam, you are going to be out the money for gaskets anyways....

buy both, save the heads, sell the ls6 cam on here for ~$200 and buy a cam worth swapping. these days, with the tuning getting so good, there is no reason IMO to go below a 228 cam. they can be VERYYYY well mannered (read: stock-like) but with muchhh better gains in power. heads plus that or cam of your choice (id call a sponsor) and youll have a lot more fun than with that ls6 cam.

IF you dont want to spend more money, then put your ls6 cam and heads on there. IF youve got money to blow, then buy a bigger cam and clean up your LS6 heads and put it on. Of course you'll need to replace springs and pushrods, but thats only if youve got some money to spend.

U will be fine w/ the LS-6 heads and cam.Your cam is 196/207-467/479 and the LS-6 cam is 204/218-555/551 so there will be a HP difference between the 2.I would say w/ LS-6 cam & heads u will make atleast 50 more rwhp.

if you can build your engine easily as in the depth the project may be then I would say use them. if your tearing it down and don't know the accessibility to do it again, I would say go with a better cam, and get the 243's ported. you would then most likely be over the 400rwhp mark.

save your money and get a bigger cam, something like the 224/224 114lsa. you will not be pleased with the ls6 cam even with those heads...if your set on the ls6 cam them buy a nirtous kit w/150 shot to go along with that cam...

he is backwards..
But yes, if u are on a budget, get a slightly bigger cam and run the heads as they are..
If u have a little dow, run the heads as they are with double valve springs and titanium retainers and invest in a decent cam..My .02
If these heads came of a true LS6, then they are ZO6 heads, i hope, they have better valves than what was put on other stamped 243'S..F.Y.I. sodium filled for lighter weight and quicker rev's..
ALOT depends on your budget..

not to hijack the thread, but what kind of gains would u get from just putting on the 243 heads? and then what would the gains be if you just put on the heads if they were ported?
