pacesetter headers ory with stock exhaust?
i am wondering how good pacesetter headers with an ory without cats and a stock catback on an 02 ws6 will sound. i wanted to save a little money and use stock catback. was this a mistake?

never heard it before. actually, ive never even heard a stock catback but ive heard its too quiet. My guess is you'll be a little louder since you don't have the cats, but as far as sound quality, im not sure what to tell you...

it will sound a LITTLE more aggressive than stock, being it wont have cats anymore. If you were going to save for a catback , this is a good investment towards the future. Pacesetter make quality parts.

I have pacesetter LTs and a TSP ORY with the stock catback. It is just a little bit louder then stock but it sounds more aggressive. I have a cutout which I open at the track but daily driving it runs though the catback.

Im running qtp lts and catted y into a stock catback with a hooker muffler. Personally I think it sounds great it has a nice deep sound. Idle isn't really loud best part is no rasp just a thick muscle car tone. To each his own i'll try and post up a video after work.

funny i got pulled over the other day and when i was pulling off the cop thought my car sounded a little to well to be stock and asked did i have headers and i said um....no and he said yeah cuz those are stock exhaust. and didn't bother to check. cuz i still have stock cat back with cutout on passenger side above rear wheel.

I wouldn't call it a mistake, as others said, it won't be quite as loud as with an aftermarket catback. A catback will help you maximize your power gains though, but the difference shouldn't be too much.
BTW, you don't really have to say you have an ORY without cats....that's kinda the point of the ORY

This is crazy...Ive been thinking about doing the same exact thing until I can afford a decent catback. And I had never heard of anyone doing it until now. I think I will have to give it a try and save some green

On the CTS-V the factory exhaust is stainless so instead of buying a 800-1300 dollar system(which a ton of people do) i bought magnapacks to weld in place of the stock mufflers.
magnapacks- $130 shipped
magnaflow catback- $850 shipped
and the factory piping will outlast the magnaflow so I dont see why people dont just buy a muffler and save money. You can get a magnaflow full size muffler directly off the catback made for the car for like 120 bucks. So thats a suggestion to the OP, find a catback you like and buy just the muffler. Unless you live in an extremely wet and salty area, even non stainless piping should last quite a while.
